LADBROKES POKER
For us at Poker Highroller, the best quality poker rooms are from the UK or nearby and one poker site that has never done it for us is Ladbrokes.
You may think that is a strange thing to say especially with Ladbrokes being a big part of the live poker tournament scenes.
Well for us they are big boys with a good hand in making life interesting at the tables but their software used to let them down badly - simple as that.
Not any more !! Now you can play like a new man at Ladbrokes revamped online poker room because its great.
If you are familiar with the old Ladbrokes poker room, then at first you really notice how much easier it is to log into your existing player account or just get to the tables and it’s so refreshing to not get frustrated with them like before the revamp.
New players can now sign up with ease as the procedure is so smooth and less complicated like it used to be and you can literally be playing poker within minutes of landing at the home page.
We rarely play instant poker because we simply prefer the download poker rooms as they are just smoother and better quality and Ladbrokes is no different for us so we will talk about the instant play another time.
Their software download is problem free and once loaded and you get into the tables you find that everything is so much - for want of a better word ‘nicer’.
At first glance you will hardly notice any difference if you have played there before but once you have a proper look you realise that you did notice it is better but that is how it should have been years ago.
We couldn’t wait to play poker and we were very very happy with the gameplay, the speed of the gaming and the quality of both pocket and communityu cards plus the respect shown by the other players at the table.
Ladbrokes - very surprising
Tony G
TONY ‘G’ Gouga
Tony G” is the playing name of Tony Guoga. When Tony Guoga started playing poker in casinos in 1994, his name was written up on the waiting boards as “TONYG”. When he started winning and attracting obvious notice from the other players and the organisers, the name stuck, and now ‘Tony G’ is one of the most well known names in the world of contemporary poker.
In the early days of his career, Tony’s first problem was his age. Players have to be 21 to get into casinos in Las Vegas, so he had to resort to fake IDs just to get in through the casino doors.
Once in he found that in the highly competitive world of high stakes poker in Las Vegas, he wasn’t as good a poker player as he had initially thought, which is understandable when coming from regular casino poker and he managed to lose the several hundred thousand dollars bank roll that he had accumulated.
Obviously on a bit of a downer, he came back to Europe and settled for smaller games at London’s Victoria Casino and also got stuck into playing poker online. Gradually he improved his expertise and by 2001 he was winning an average of $7500 a month in cash games.
He started entering major tournaments, and in Vienna he almost won the European WSOP Hold’em. In the heads-up showdown at the final table he was certain his Q-Q would easily beat his opponent’s Q-5, only to see two fives come on fourth and fifth street on what must rank as one of the worst bad beats in tournament history. Catching the wave of internet poker, he launched several websites and has his finger in several other pies. In tournaments he has won some half-a-million dollars, but his main steady income comes from playing cash games, which show him $10,000 profit in a good week, according to his meticulously-kept records.
He is noted for his lively play and humor at the poker table. The Hendon Mob website calls him “a very aggressive player.” and adds that “it would never be a surprise to see him feature prominently in the final stages of any tournament.”
Lately, he has become well-known to television viewers of the World Poker Tour. Their website says of him: “Tony G is a ’smack’ talker. Tony G became what he is growing up in Melbourne Australia and started gambling at 12, Tony is a hyper-aggressive player. His talkativeness is just an extension of his personality, he says, though he is often able to use it to his advantage at the table. His brashness often throws players off their games - especially in genteel Europe.”
